Dr. Fawzi Zaidan ALI is a Senior Principal Assistant Director at the Medical Development Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia, with over 13 years of experience across various roles within the Ministry. He has been instrumental in shaping national casemix policies, both at the strategic and operational levels.
Dr. Fawzi has led the development and implementation of three iterations of the MOH Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) applications and currently oversees the nationwide project to develop a unified National DRG system for all 370 public and private hospitals in Malaysia.
He holds a Doctor of Medicine from Padjadjaran University, Indonesia, and a Master’s in Hospital Administration from the University of the Philippines. He serves as a member of the Malaysia ICD-11 and ICHI Implementation Committee and the Technical Advisory Committee for Health Technologies Economic Evaluation.
Dr. Fawzi has actively contributed to key national and international forums, including the 36th Patient Classification Systems International (PCSI) Conference 2024 and the PCSI School on Advanced Design and Implementation of Casemix Funding Models 2023.
He is committed to building a career in healthcare leadership and management, with a passion for transforming Malaysia’s healthcare system. His professional interests include public health, hospital financing, health economics, and healthcare digitalizsation.
